Beam made of steel. Steel beams can be used for crane beams and working platform beams in prefabricated steel structure workshops, floor beams in multi-story buildings, and purlins in roof structures.
There are two categories:
Steel beam
It is made of hot-rolled I-beam or channel steel (see hot-rolled section steel), and light beams such as purlins can also be cold-formed Z-shaped steel and channel steel (see cold-formed steel). Sectional steel beams are easy to process and cheaper to manufacture, but the section size of the sectioned steel is restricted by certain specifications. When the load and span are large, and the section steel section cannot meet the requirements of strength, rigidity or stability, a composite beam is used.
Composite beam
It is welded or riveted by steel plate or section steel. Because riveting costs labor and materials, welding is often the mainstay. Commonly used welded composite beams are I-shaped and box-shaped sections composed of upper and lower flange plates and webs. The latter requires more materials and more complicated manufacturing processes, but has greater bending and torsional rigidity. , It is suitable for situations with high lateral load and torsion resistance requirements or restricted beam height.
The splicing method generally uses groove butt welding to connect, which can save labor and materials; but for the site splicing of heavy beams, high-strength bolts of splicing plates can also be used to improve splicing quality and improve the dynamic performance of the beam.
